I honestly don't understand the negative reviews. I have never had a bad experience at Ruffino's, especially in the past few years. Anyway, with the economy being tough and their previous location on the 1800 block possibly being a bit too spacious, Salvatore Ruffino's has moved back to their original location on the corner of 19th and Tilghman, which was most recently occupied by Mambo's. Their menu tightened up, but they still offer a modest range of your standard Italian dishes. You just order at the counter now. The decor inside isn't too fancy, but rather pleasant and casual, and more than enough to give this place the vibe of what it really is--a great pizza joint. The pizza at this place is absolutely terrific. It's a little pricier than other places in the West End, but you get what you pay for. I think where they went wrong at their last location was just try to do too much, but I always loved this place for their pizza. Now ...
I love this place
I am sad to read the poor reviews from other diners - they must have not liked the owner or something because I ate here all the time when we lived on Chew St close by and it was always wonderful! The pizza is superb and I have not ever had a bad entree here either. I say give it a chance - I've had a great time every time I eat here.
